The model

The whole fruit is the business plan.

Most avocado processors extract the oil and dispose of the rest — up to 85% of every fruit. We designed Wachomi Foods the other way around: a plant where every stream leaving the gate is a product someone pays for.

How it works

Oil.

Ripe Hass fruit, cold-pressed within 24–48 hours of delivery. Two grades from day one: culinary extra virgin, and unrefined crude for cosmetic formulators.

Butter.

A portion of our oil is blended into cosmetic-grade avocado butter — a fast-growing ingredient in clean beauty formulation.

Fertiliser.

Press cake is composted on site and sold back to our supplying farmers below retail. The orchard that feeds the plant is fed by the plant.

Fuel.

Seeds and skins are dried and pressed into briquettes. They fire our own dryers first; the surplus is sold. We never sell raw press waste as animal feed — avocado skins are unsafe for livestock, and we take that seriously.

Next (phase two).

Seed powder and fruit powder lines follow once the oil line runs at steady state. We sequence; we don't stack.

Sourcing

Why farmers come first

A processing plant is only as good as its supply. Our sourcing model is built on committed offtake with smallholder farmers in Murang'a — fair, predictable farmgate prices, agronomic coordination through established farmer networks, and the compost loop that returns value to the same soil the fruit came from.

Roadmap

Certifications: our roadmap, stated plainly

We hold no certifications yet — we haven't pressed a litre. Here is the plan:

With commissioning

KEBS standardisation mark

Filed as the plant is commissioned (May 2027).

Targeted 2029

Organic certification — EU / ECOCERT pathway

The organic pathway requires a multi-season conversion window; we target certification by 2029.

From first batches

Cosmetic ingredient documentation

COA and MSDS per product, from first production batches.

If your procurement pipeline needs a certified East African supplier, we should be talking now.
